Our Story

Family Healthcare is located in sunny St. George, Utah and is committed to the health care of individuals and families of our community regardless of race, creed, or social status. We were established in 2002 with the help and support of the Southwest Utah Public Health Department. We had 1,972 patient visits our first year.

In 2017, we served 13,138 patients which is about 6% of the population in Washington and Iron Counties. We had 39,160 patient visits! Of the 13,138 patients, 4,038 patients were new—a 31% growth.

In June 2009, we opened our second site at Millcreek High School in partnership with the Washington County School District and the Intermountain Healthcare Foundation. In 2010 Intermountain Healthcare asked us to take over operations of the community clinic in Cedar City. It became our third site and we grew the clinic from a very limited part-time operation, to full time medical, with enhanced dental and behavioral health services.

In June 2011, we moved our main St. George site to our present location at 25 N 100 E, St. George, expanding from 9 to 15 exam rooms! In June 2014, we opened our fourth site, a brand new 3,200 sq ft. school-based clinic on the campus Hurricane Middle School.

In 2016, we opened a full-spectrum dental clinic with a full-time dentist and dental hygienist at the St. George, Main Clinic.

We provide safe, comprehensive, and timely health care and follow-up services for all patients regardless of financial or other barriers. Services are provided in a proficient, compassionate, and linguistically and culturally competent manner.
Prevention, health education, and linking patients with needed resources are an integral part of our clinical process. Continuous outreach is consistently conducted, especially to the target populations. At-risk patients are encouraged to take steps to become self-sufficient.
Employees are considered Family Healthcare’s most valuable asset. Our providers are highly trained and nationally certified and have become proficient in many areas of medical care. Our staff is experienced and skilled and most are fluent in English and Spanish. All are dedicated to providing comprehensive, continuing health care to individuals and families in need of services. Teamwork is essential and desirable.

Family Healthcare has become a key link in the primary health care system in Washington and Iron Counties and is part of the solution to the problems of access to health care for people in St. George, Cedar City, Hurricane and surrounding communities.

Our Mission, Vision and Values

When you think about a community health center, what do you see? Is it a crowded place where you feel like just a number? Or is it a place that only accepts you if have a certain kind of health insurance? Well, it’s not. Community Health Centers are thriving, patient-centered facilities that practice wellness, collaboration, and excellence.

For more than 45 years, Health Resource Services Administration (HRSA) supported health centers have provided comprehensive, culturally competent, quality primary health care services to medically underserved communities and vulnerable populations. Health centers are community-based and patient-directed organizations that serve populations with limited access to health care.

That is Family Healthcare!

Making lives better in Southwest Utah by providing accessible, quality health care regardless of financial, language and cultural barriers.

We continue to evolve Family Healthcare  according to the model of the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) which puts patients at the center of the healthcare system, and provides primary care that is “accessible, affordable, continuous, comprehensive, family centered, coordinated, compassionate, and culturally effective.” We accept Medicaid, Medicare, and insurance plans.  Services for the low-income, uninsured are provided on a Sliding Fee Scale that is based on family income and size.

As the health care home for over 10,000 residents in Southern Utah, Family Healthcare provides a comprehensive range of health, educational and preventive social services while treating the whole person in a quality, cost efficient and caring environment. We not only offer primary medical care services, but also supportive services that include behavioral health services, patient and family education, family planning, women’s health services, and translation services. We believe that each person deserves access to outstanding, state-of-the-art health care and highly skilled health care providers, and we are able to do this through generous federal and state grants; donations from private donors such as Intermountain Healthcare and the Eccles Foundation; and the dedication of all our employees.

In 2015, we plan to serve 29,000 patient visits, provide over $2 million in charity care to the community with our partners, and add over $4 million to the local economy!
