Based on the belief that health is a personal asset rather than a social entitlement, America’s health care safety net for providing integrated primary care and public health services for low-income and uninsured Americans is the Community Health Center (CHC). Designed as a hand up not a handout, this nonprofit model ensures those without insurance or facing economic hardship can access primary health care while investing—to the best of their ability—in their own health.

ST. GEORGE, Utah (3/23/21) – A registered charity since 2002, Family Healthcare serves populations in need of medical, dental, and behavioral health care in five locations. This will soon be whittled down to three. The demand for low-cost services in Washington and Iron Counties has led to the construction of a new state-of-healthcare clinic on Riverside Drive in St. George.
While the new clinic isn’t expected to open until April of 2022, City of St. George officials received highlights of what’s to come.

The city of St. George has paved the way for Family Healthcare Clinic to consolidate offices to better serve the community.
The 30,000-square-foot building on the south side of East Riverside Drive between Taylor Andrews Academy School of Hair Design and Millcreek High School will house 23 exam rooms, three behavioral health rooms, a dentist’s office, and pharmacy, as well as four administrative offices, eight office cubicles, and a board room.
Lori Wright, CEO of Family Healthcare Clinic, said during a recent St. George City Council meeting that the building will replace the current location in downtown St. George along with a trailer on Millcreek High School that will be moved to the west side of the city.
Other clinic offices include one in Hurricane and two in Cedar City that will remain open.

The St. George Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the inaugural Element Awards ceremony and banquet at the Dixie Convention Center on Friday evening.
The ceremony was created to recognize Washington County women “in their element” as business and community leaders. Sixteen women were honored, including a posthumous honor for Cindy Clemens, a life coach and creator of “Living Life InJOY.”

The St. George Area Chamber of Commerce publicly recognized 16 area women for their achievements in helping to change the world where they live. The first annual Element Awards presented by Intermountain Precision Genomics honored the women during a banquet awards ceremony on March 26th.
The area chamber plans to make this an annual event empowering and recognizing women who play an integral role in the advancement of business and community leadership.
Del Beatty, Dean of Students and Assistant Vice President at Dixie State University and Family Healthcare board member opened the breakfast with a beautiful rendition of America the Beautiful. It was a great way to start Family Healthcare’s 2nd Annual Breakfast in Cedar City at the Marriott Courtyard.
Family Healthcare CEO, Lori Wright, recognized Eric Packer, CEO of Intermountain Healthcare Cedar City Hospital with the 2019 Hero of the Year award. Eric Packer, who is the CEO of Intermountain Healthcare’s Cedar City Hospital and has 30 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience.
Lori then awarded Peggy Green, CEO of Iron County Share and Care the 2019 Outstanding Partner award. Iron County Share and Care provides compassionate assistance and resources to individuals and families in need, offering opportunities to increase their stability and self-sufficiency.
